WHOIS Lookup
Look up registration data for any domain: registrar, creation and expiry dates, name servers, DNSSEC and domain status.
Frequently asked questions
It returns the registration record for a domain: the registrar, the creation, last-update and expiry dates, the name servers, the domain status codes and, where published, DNSSEC information. Most registrant contact details are redacted by registries today.
The lookup is powered by the public who-dat service, which queries the responsible registry using RDAP where available and falls back to the WHOIS protocol otherwise. The "Source" badge tells you which one answered.
Since GDPR and ICANN's temporary specification, registries and registrars redact personal contact data from public records. When details are hidden the record is shown as redacted.
The registry returned no registration record for the domain, which usually means it is unregistered and available. Always confirm with a registrar before relying on it.
Most common TLDs are covered, including gTLDs such as .com, .net and .org and many country-code TLDs. A few registries do not publish a machine-readable service; those return an unsupported-TLD message.
The result reflects what the registry returned at the moment of the query. Results are cached in your browser for a day to avoid repeat requests; clear your browser storage to force a fresh lookup.
No. TCPLab stores nothing: the lookup is sent from your browser directly to the external who-dat service, so the domain you query and your IP address go to that third-party service, not to us.
